Carol was born in Foshan, China and won a scholarship to finish high school in Singapore when she was 15. She graduated from NYU in 2021 with degrees in Math & Computer Science, and during her time in college she worked as the only undergraduate Research Assistant in a team aiming to develop a dyslexia computational model. She also worked in a lab, applying COG optimal transport to machine learning. She interned at Facebook during summer 2021 and went on to pursue her PhD in Applied Mathematics at Harvard University.
